Hans Hartmann

Hans Hartmann (1913-1991) was born in the canton of Aargau but later established himself in Berne. One of his specialties was designing logos for companies and institutions, including the SBB, for which he designed the logo combining a Swiss cross with two arrows. Hartmann also designed some of the best Swiss postage stamps as well as some very effective poster advertising, which features the graphical perfectionism that was typical for Swiss graphic design around 1960.
